CCYHA 1st Annual Golf Tournament Recap

The 1st annual CCYHA golf tournament was held at Indian Hill Country Club on July 17th. Despite the gloomy forecast, the tournament was completed before the rains came. A huge thank you to our VP of Fundraising, Rich Faber, for organizing the extremely successful event. The day was filled with great on course activities, raffle, putting competition, and give aways.

Our first place team at 14 under par was Bill Anastasiades, Joe Montano, Kevin Carroll and Jason Jarvis. Our second place team at 13 under par was Kevin Linskey, Brian James, Mike Bernard and Jim Schmidt.

Other on course winners were: Longest Drive - Mike Gaydos and Closest To The Pin (4'5") - Michael Gallon.

We had many sponsors that we would like to thank. The day could not have gone so well without the generosity of our members.

The half off hockey tuition for next season was won by the Malloy family for their son, Spencer Malloy......congratulations.

Thank you to the volunteers and the golf committee, especially Mike Gaydos, Christina Williams, and Christina Halle.

Please be on the look out for next years golf tournament information.

Two former CCYHA players selected to USA National Dev. Camp

Congratulations to Cam Grillo (Trinity Pawling) and Hayden Riva (Berkshire) on being selected to represent New England at the USA Hockey Select 16's National Development Camp. Both Cam and Hayden were longtime CCYHA players and were 2 of only 9 players from New England to be selected to the National Camp. Best of luck to both when they attend the camp in July in Amherst, New York.

CCYHA 2018-2019 Program Overview

Central CT Youth Hockey Program Overview

CCYHA is one of the largest and most successful travel programs in the state. We are an American Development Model (ADM) compliant program with the objective of long-term development. Our mission is to provide an opportunity for young people to learn the rules and skills of ice hockey through supervised instruction and competition while emphasizing the ideals of good sportsmanship and teamwork.

Program Offerings:

         Development Programs

         Capital Wolves Girls Hockey

The Capital Wolves are a Girls Youth Hockey program located in the greater Hartford, Connecticut area.  The program is beginning it’s second season after a very successful 2017-2018 USA Hockey season, and has been created out of a partnership between the Central Connecticut and West Hartford youth hockey associations.  The program skates girls teams at the U10, U12, U14, and U19 levels, and will compete in the CHC and CGHL conferences.

Developed in large part thanks to rising numbers and tremendous interest across the Greater Hartford region, the goal of this collaborative effort is to provide an opportunity for girls of various ages and skill levels to have a local place to play hockey, while simultaneously helping to build and grow a unique program to compete at the highest level against other Girls’ programs throughout CT and New England.

CAPITAL WOLVES CONFERENCES

We anticipate fielding multiple teams at the U10, U12, U14, & U19 levels for this coming season, including both CHC and CGHL representation. The expectation is to offer competitive teams at the highest skill levels, while also affording every girl with interest a place to play hockey without having to leave the area.

CCYHA Player at Sound Tigers Game - Supporting Make A Wish

Sam Lopa, a squirt CCYHA player, and the Make a Wish Foundation participated in a pregame ceremony at the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.   Sam has met the Sound Tigers organization through a connection with the Make a Wish Foundation.  Sam recently skated with the Sound Tigers during practice wearing his Central Ct. Capitals jersey.

The Sound Tigers honored Sam and another young hockey player at the Sound Tigers game in Bridgeport at the Webster Bank Arena.   A portion of every ticket sold went directly to the Make a Wish Foundation.

CCYHA players Sam Andrea, Alex Malan and Dillon Torneo supported Sam at the game and were invited to sit on the bench during warmups and stand on the ice during the national anthem.
