3 weeks agoCCYHA Midget Tier 2 U18 Team
Congratulations on being selected to participate on the CCYHA U18 Tier 2 split season team. Hopefully this is the longest email that you get from me all season. It is long but there is very important information included.
Building off the success of the past several seasons where our U16’s and u18's advanced to 5 USA Hockey Nationals, Central CT Youth Hockey (CCYHA) will be, once again, forming a split season National Bound Tier 2 team at the U18 level for the 2025-2026 season. This team fills a void in our area at the Tier 2 level. We will be competing in CHC Tier 2 with the winners of the CT State Tournament advancing to the USA Hockey Tier 2 National Championships. Teams will practice and play at Newington Arena.
Judging from tryouts, this teams appears to be very strong and will give us a great opportunity to get back to Nationals !!!!!

Schedule (Games):
We will play a very competitive schedule. Last season there were 10 declared tier 2 teams at the u18 level. If this holds true for this season, we can expect to play 9 required CHC games. We will be playing in the following 2 tournaments; SuperSeries Boston Breakout in MA (various rinks) Sep 5-7) and Beast Series Jr Bulldogs Showcase in CT (Sept 19-21). In addition to these two tournaments we will also be looking to schedule 10+ additional (home and away) games to fill our schedule against Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams. Our non-league schedule will be challenging. Because of our success over the past few years, we have made connections with other “local” teams that historically compete at Nationals; NY Apple Core, Worcester Railers, BC Jr Eagles, Springfield Pics etc…..
Schedule (Practices):
We will be starting practice the week of August 18th. The team will have one full ice practice each week and one skills practice each week. Because this is a short split season, the primary goal is skill development to get each player prepared for their high school season. The skills session practices will be stationed based skills practices. Practices will be up tempo and challenging for the players.
Schedule (Summer Ice):
CCYHA provides our players with free summer ice weekly. This is completely optional and starts in mid/late June and runs through the start of the season. There will be one hour of ice each week for skills / 3v3. The format of these sessions are 15-20 minutes of skills and 40 minutes of 3v3. This schedule will be loaded on the CCYHA website.
